Welcome Back, today I’m going to give you second reason that software
projects typically fail for small businesses and that is hiring the wrong team.
And I do say team; but really a lot of the companies that call us, because they have a big failed project, do so because they didn’t even hire a team. They hired a freelancer or solo guy. On the surface this may sound like a great idea, you find somebody you like, they’re real smart, and they’re working for cheap! Unfortunately, you have to be extremely careful because there are so many complications that come up…
Don’t Hire a Freelancer
First you need to define the term ‘Feelancer’. What exactly is a freelancer? For example, a ‘freelancer’ could mean someone that’s currently unemployed, or between jobs and just trying to make ends meet until they can go out and find their new ‘real’ job. Or, that freelancer could be somebody who, during the day, is working some job but hiding out in the corner to have phone calls with you and trying to program your project at night. They may end up overcommitting themselves and not realizing just how much family time they’re going to give up and end up calling you one day saying ‘sorry, I can’t go on’. That is a HUGE reason why software projects fail… Just hiring the wrong people to begin with.
Next time I’ll give you the third reason but make sure to subscribe to our videos so that you get updated and also if you ever have any idea for some topic you think we ought to cover just shoot an email right over or give us a phone call…. See you next time
